Dublin Institute of Technology
This year we have once again added some new categories that reflect the variety of products offered by retailers in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, and we’ll be adding extra judging days to cope with the larger volume of entries expected.
Judging sessions will take place in the Green Room Restaurant. In the kitchen, our team of fully qualified chefs and home economists will prepare, serve and store the products, following exactly the same guidelines as our UK team: they will calibrate the ovens before they cook a single product, ensure all items are prepared exactly to their pack instructions, photograph any damaged or poorly performing products for feedback, and make sure every judge gets a sample that accurately reflects the whole product. This means we are confident the integrity of the Quality Food Awards is upheld and that the awards maintain their very high value.
This year our kitchen team is again headed up by Lecturer, Home Economist and Food Stylist Agnes Bouchier-Hayes. The team has the added responsibility of making sure all the notes from our goods-in team, the kitchen, the judges and judging room notetaker are all collated at the end of each judging session. We know these notes have real value to entrants and we are very keen to ensure you get the most accurate and detailed feedback possible. We are looking forward to seeing all the fantastic products from the best Irish retailers and producers!
