Danone Ireland and FoodCloud have announced a two-year extension to their collaborative efforts, aiming to broaden their impact on food access, waste reduction, and community health through enhanced nutrition support and volunteering initiatives.

Danone Ireland has agreed to keep its partnership with FoodCloud running for another two years, extending the collaboration to 2028 as both organisations look to widen the impact of their work on food access, waste reduction and community nutrition.

The extension builds on a programme that, since 2023, has redistributed 174 tonnes of surplus food and supported 685 community partners with nutritional guidance, including adapted recipes and webinars designed to help turn donated ingredients into healthy meals. Danone says the next phase will strengthen its nutrition education offer and expand volunteering support, with activity set to grow further in 2026.

FoodCloud says its research with partner organisations points to tangible benefits on the ground. It reports that 85% of community partners said access to nutritious food had improved, while 77% said it helped them save money on food costs and stretch their services further. More than 80% also said surplus food acted as a gateway to wider engagement with support services.

According to Danone, the partnership combines FoodCloud’s redistribution network with the company’s nutrition expertise, helping charities and community groups make better use of the food they receive. In statements carried by Checkout and FoodCloud, the two organisations said the renewed arrangement would be focused on deepening local impact, improving access to nutritional support and adapting to the changing needs of community partners across Ireland.
