Aldi Ireland's 2025 Grow With Aldi programme opens applications to support aspiring local producers, aiming to enhance the grocery retail landscape.

Aldi Ireland is set to bolster the local grocery retail sector with the launch of its 2025 Grow With Aldi programme, designed to support aspiring Irish producers, suppliers, and entrepreneurs. Applications for the programme are currently open and will remain so until 31 January 2025. The initiative serves as a product accelerator and supplier development programme, selecting the top Irish producers and granting them the opportunity to have their products stocked in all 163 Aldi stores across the nation.

Now in its eighth year, Grow With Aldi aims to drive growth and opportunities for Irish SMEs, in partnership with Bord Bia. Successful applicants are afforded invaluable support from Aldi experts to help elevate their business ventures. Previous winners of the programme include successful brands like Velo Coffee, FemFuelz, Cookie Dó, and Walls Honest Chips, signalling the program's potential to transform local businesses.

The application process involves an expert panel of Aldi buyers who meticulously evaluate each submission, selecting finalist products that will debut in stores later this year. The announcement of the winners will take place in winter 2025, providing these businesses with significant mentorship opportunities that encompass insights into supply chain management, marketing strategies, and the buying process with Aldi.

Rob Horgan, owner of Velo Coffee and president of Cork Chamber, remarked on the programme's impact, stating, “Grow With Aldi was a gamechanger for Velo Coffee. It helped us reach a nationwide audience and connect with Irish customers like never before.” Horgan highlighted the importance of the programme in providing local products with visibility, enabling sustainable growth for participants.

Rachael O’Connor, buying director at Aldi Ireland, remarked on the company's commitment to supporting Irish businesses, asserting, “Aldi is passionate about supporting Irish businesses and championing the best of Irish produce.” Currently, Aldi stocks over 2,400 everyday products sourced from more than 330 Irish suppliers. The retailer has invested €10 million into the Grow With Aldi programme to date, underlining its dedication to placing Irish products prominently on its shelves.

Cassie Stokes, Aldi Brand Ambassador, emphasised the programme's appeal for budding producers, encouraging potential applicants by saying, “I’m thrilled to be part of Grow With Aldi for the second year running. Ireland is full of incredibly talented producers, and I love using my social media platform to share their stories.” Stokes urged aspiring entrepreneurs to apply before the deadline, emphasising the potential opportunities that await.

The initiative continues to receive praise from Bord Bia, with Fiona Twomey, global retail specialist, expressing excitement about supporting ambitious and innovative Irish producers. “The programme offers excellent visibility and support to producers, giving them the opportunity to secure a national listing with Aldi,” Twomey stated.

As Ireland's grocery landscape continues to evolve, initiatives such as Grow With Aldi play a critical role in fostering local talent and providing essential platforms for the success of Irish brands in the retail sector.
