Aldi introduces Burts Ridges Hand Cooked Guinness Crisps, offering a unique snack experience during the Six Nations tournament.

In a notable development ahead of the upcoming Six Nations rugby tournament, Aldi is set to launch a new product inspired by the iconic Irish beverage, Guinness. The retailer will introduce Burts Ridges Hand Cooked Guinness Crisps to its stores across Ireland starting from January 26. Each 150g sharing bag will be available for £1.35, catering to fans looking for a unique snack to enjoy during the rugby matches.

The popular supermarket chain has highlighted the innovative blend of flavours in its new offering. Shoppers can choose between classic Guinness and a spicier variant that combines Guinness with chilli, allowing consumers to select based on their flavour preferences. According to Aldi, "There may have been a national shortage of the black stuff, but Aldi shoppers will have the luck of the Irish on 26 January," reinforcing the connection between the crisps and the famed stout.

The launch of these crisps coincides with the opening week of the Six Nations tournament, which is set to kick off on January 31 with a clash between France and Wales at the Stade de France. The tournament, which this year commemorates 25 years since Italy joined, will also see Scotland hosting Italy at Murrayfield on February 1, while defending champions Ireland will face England later that day in a highly anticipated match.

As fans prepare for the competition, Aldi's crispy snack is expected to become a popular choice, particularly during half-time breaks as viewers engage with the excitement and passion that the Six Nations brings. The retailer has encouraged shoppers to be swift in acquiring the crisps, noting that, similar to its other Specialbuys, "once they’re gone, they’re gone."

As anticipation builds for this year's matches, TV presenter Gabby Logan commented on the unique nature of the competition, stating, "The Six Nations always brings unforgettable drama, passion, and incredible skill, and I'm so excited to see which players and teams will rise to the occasion this year. It's a competition like no other, and we're ready to bring it all to life for our audience."
