Customers can now receive thousands of products within forty minutes, meeting growing demand for quick and convenient online shopping.
SuperValu has partnered with Uber Eats to offer rapid grocery delivery, allowing customers to receive their shopping in as little as forty minutes. The new service launched recently at SuperValu Lucan and will expand to an additional eight SuperValu stores in Dublin and Limerick over the coming weeks.
Through this collaboration, shoppers will gain access to thousands of SuperValu products via Uber Eats, including a wide selection of meat, fruit and vegetables, bakery items, own-brand products, and ready-to-eat convenience meals. The initiative aims to meet growing consumer demand for quick and convenient online grocery shopping.
Luke Hanlon, Managing Director of SuperValu, told Business Plus: “Our customers value the convenience provided by online shopping. This partnership with Uber Eats builds on our offering in this area and will offer rapid same-day delivery to SuperValu customers, giving them more choice in how they purchase from us. Through Uber Eats technology and expertise, we can provide our customers with on demand delivery of their favourite products from SuperValu in as little as forty minutes.”
Leanne Purcell, General Manager of Uber Eats Ireland, added: “We’re excited to launch rapid grocery delivery on Uber Eats in Ireland for the first time, building on the incredible growth of on-demand delivery across the world. We’re particularly thrilled to partner with SuperValu – a much-loved brand that’s deeply ingrained in Irish communities. We look forward to helping shoppers get everyday essentials straight to their door, providing the choice and easy convenience that we know they really love.”
David O'Keefe, Head of Quick Commerce at Musgrave (SuperValu’s parent company), emphasised the changing patterns in consumer shopping habits, particularly the shift from large weekly grocery shops to more frequent, last-minute orders. Uber Eats has noticed a demand for healthier groceries on its platform, with milk and bananas among the most popular items in the UK market.
The partnership combines Musgrave’s grocery expertise with Uber Eats’ delivery technology, aiming to enhance the online shopping experience for Irish consumers by providing speed, convenience, and a wide product selection.
The launch event featured SuperValu Lucan Store Manager Ger Joyce alongside Uber Eats representatives including Leanne Purcell and Rob Keartland, Grocery & Retail Partner Manager, as well as Musgrave executives David O'Keefe and Kevin Grace, Head of Sales at Musgrave Operating Partners Ireland.
